Privacy policy

Files you compress
Photos, signatures, and PDFs are processed only in your browser. The bytes are not uploaded, not stored on a server, and not attached to an analytics event. The page can keep working after you go offline, once it has loaded.
Re-encoding builds a new file from pixels. Camera metadata, including GPS coordinates stored in EXIF, is not copied into that new file. If a photo is already under the target, in the right format, and has no EXIF block, the original bytes may be returned unchanged. The result card says when that happens.
The site cannot delete a file from your phone or computer. Close the tab to drop the working copy. Do not send identity documents to the contact address unless you intend to.
Analytics
This build loads Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-K4Y0LGTG7P. Google may set cookies and receive your IP address, browser type, and the pages you open. IP anonymization is requested. Custom events are limited to a file type such as “jpeg” or “pdf”, a size bucket such as “1mb_to_5mb”, a target KB number, a duration bucket, an output type, and a short reason code when compression fails. File names and file contents are not parameters. Google’s description of advertising and measurement cookies is at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
This build does not load Microsoft Clarity.
Advertising and cookies
This version of the site does not load third-party advertising scripts. There is no ad slot in the page and no advertising cookie from this build.
A later version may show ads. If it does, the policy on that version will name the provider. Google and other advertising partners, when used, may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can control Google’s ad personalization at adssettings.google.com. You can opt out of some interest-based ads from other companies at aboutads.info/choices and optout.networkadvertising.org. Google’s advertising technologies are described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Advertising scripts are not given your files. Compression does not send the file to an ad network. Ads, when present, sit in the article text, away from the upload control and the download buttons.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland may need a certified consent message before personalized ads are shown. That message is added when those ads are turned on for those regions. It is not a substitute for this policy.
What we do not collect on purpose
There are no accounts, no passwords, and no mailing list. Server logs at the host may briefly record an IP address and the URL of a page request, as with any public website. Those logs are not a copy of your file. The URL does not contain the file name.
Changes
When advertising or analytics is switched on or off, this page is updated in the same build. The effective date above changes with that edit.
